Coordinating skills development programs in uMkhanyakude

KaLwayi, registered as NPO 093-898, is situated in the deep rural area of eManyiseni within the Jozini local municipality. Our primary focus is on coordinating skills development programs in the uMkhanyakude District Municipality. Recognizing the crucial need for skills development in the region, we engaged with various SETAs to explore avenues that could assist the unemployed youth.

Who Are We?

The targeted area encompasses the five local municipalities—Jozini, uMhlabuyalingana, Big Five Falls Bay, Mtubatuba, and Hlabisa—forming the Umkhanyakude District Municipality. Notably, there is no institution of higher learning within the entire Umkhanyakude District, making it imperative for learners who complete grade 12 without access to such institutions to face challenges such as substance abuse and vulnerability to the HIV and AIDS pandemic.

Partnerships and Initiatives:

In addition to our ongoing projects, KaLwayi NPO has established significant partnerships to further contribute to skills development:

Our Lady of Ingwavuma Skills Center: Identified by the Minister of Higher Education as a Skills Center for the deep rural area of Umkhanyakude, this initiative is a collaborative effort between KaLwayi, CETA, and the Roman Catholic Church. The church generously donated the land, and CETA is responsible for building the center, set to be completed in February 2024. Once finished, it will be handed over to KaLwayi as beneficiaries.

Nsingweni Consulting: KaLwayi NPO and Nsingweni Consulting have cultivated a strong working relationship over the years, with Nsingweni serving as the accredited training provider. This partnership has been instrumental in various endeavors, including the Our Lady of Ingwavuma Skills Center initiative.

KaLwayi NPO remains committed to making a positive impact on the youth and the community, striving to bridge the gap in educational opportunities and promote skills development in the deep rural areas.
